Lecture delivered at New Islington Hall, Ancoats, Manchester, 26 Sept. 1886. The version in this MS., however, contains references to Windsor and St George's Chapel (f. 19) which suggest it was written for delivery in Windsor, though there is no evidence that this took place. Printed by Le Mire, op. cit., pp. 382-409, under this title, but first mentioned as 'Of the Origin of Decorative Art' (see Le Mire, op. cit., p. 479). [No. 12].
